Kickoff Workshop: What is Content Strategy?

Goop The kickoff workshop gives an overview of the field of practice of content strategy and its components, methods, and processes in context. The course provides enough basic knowledge so that participants can understand the components of the degree course in a meaningful manner. The course also provides students with a sense of the processes in the context of a business environment, to understand the planning, development, and implementation of a content strategy. It also highlights how the input given relates to the other modules within the program, such as technology, research on organizational communication, public relations, marketing, and so on).

The workshop on "AI in Storytelling" began with a thought-provoking premise: our favourite stories reveal a lot about who we are. This idea underscores the belief that people who share similar favourite stories can collaborate effectively, as these narratives offer deep insights into individual personalities and values. This concept set the stage for an engaging session led by Jennifer Fritz from Concept & Stories. The lecture on "Storytelling on AI" provided practical insights, creative strategies, and technological tools and frameworks to demonstrate the narrative potential of artificial intelligence. It showcased how AI can be leveraged to craft compelling stories for diverse audiences, blending traditional storytelling elements with cutting-edge technology to explore new horizons in narrative creation.

What is a content strategist? In practice and literature, this role is understood in many different and often conflicting ways. In her introductory lecture, Rahel Anne Bailie explained why she considers content strategists to be management consultants specialising in content turnarounds. Content strategists are called strategists because they do not simply execute a task; they discover and define strategic tasks, and look for ways that content can fulfil these tasks.
